About Overland Plating
Overland Plating is a licensed 01 firearm dealer and gunsmith. We specialize in custom plating, refinishing, gunsmithing and custom guns.
We perform all steps in-house, from stripping and polishing, blasting and plating. We are even capable of performing Rockwell hardness testing of the finished product to assure the highest level of quality and consistent plated finishes.
We are one of the few companies offering the variety of finishes on both handguns and complete long guns. We offer many applied finishes like gunkote and Duracoat along with three types of Parkerizing, Black Oxide, Zinc and Manganese Phosphate.
The plated finishes we offer are:
- Regular Nickel
- Electroless Nickel
- 24k Gold
- Black Chrome
- Hard Chrome
- Cobalt- looks like chrome, hard like chrome, but won't peel or flake like Chrome
- Copper plate (done both as a finished plate or as a base for heavily pitted items)
- Blueing
- Parkerizing
We specialize in custom, one-of-a-kind jobs, using various finishes such as nickel on frame and slide and gold or silver on small parts, or chrome or cobalt on revolver frame and gold or blue cylinder with gold inlays.
Custom handgun Grips
Hand-made, custom grips are also available on most Colt SAA and clones, Colt and S&W revolvers, Ruger Vaquero and many automatic pistols in a variety of materials like Ivory, many colors of Pearl, and different woods, bones and other exotic colors using both natural and manmade materials. Many of the pictures in the customer gallery have these grips not only adding beauty but value because they are hand fitted to the grip frame before final finishing to give as exacting a fit as possible. Especially on the SAA clones no two grip frames the same, even the same model so that off the shelf grips do not fit properly.
Gunsmithing
We have expanded our gunsmith services to include repairs, upgrades and complete custom guns specializing in 1911 and cowboy action shooting.
Engraving
Until further notice we will not be offering engraving or marking on AK receivers. At Overland we take pride in doing all guns in house, by hand, one at a time.
